I was very excited to come across this cookie jar on Ebay. It had never held cookies so it doesn't have even one cooking lard stain that most pre-1960s jars have. That was a bonus perk to me because my own cookies would be the first to touch the inside. This cookie jar was placed in a glass-doored display cabinet the day it was purchased. It was being sold, along with about 300 others, by the daughter of the original collector because the family was helping to sort out their parents home etc. I'm glad they did! It is still behind glass doors with the strictest instructions that only Mom or Dad can bring it out and supervise lid lifting and cookie grabbing. However, my children are now eating cookies out of and making memories of our version of their Great Grandma's cookie jar. Sweet!
